The FIMR project aims to reduce infant mortality by improving the maternal and child health service systems as well as facilitating access to community resources. The FIMR project's Case Review Team (CRT) examines socioeconomic, cultural and health system factors that are associated with infant mortality through an in depth review of individual cases of fetal, neonatal and infant mortality. In an effort to improve birth outcome and reduce infant mortality, HPC conducts community education on health risks associated with birth outcome, spacing pregnancies, management of pre-existing health conditions, nutritional health, STI prevention, identifying normal fetal movement and signs and symptoms of preterm labor. HPC offers physician grand rounds on preterm labor prevention and fetal kick count patient education.
Packets are provided to grieving families and include, memory boxes, sibling education pamphlets and referrals to support groups.
