Community Doula Program

Funded by the New Jersey Department of Health & Senior Services' Access to Prenatal Care Initiative, the goal of the Community Doula Program is to serve pregnant women in Hudson County and their families during their prenatal, labor and postpartum time. 

The program offers an intensive six-month fellowship to Hudson County women to get trained as community doulas.  HPC Community Doula Fellowship is based on DONA International birth doula training curriculum. Doulas offer emotional support and physical relaxation tools to promote a healthy pregnancy.  During labor, doulas offer comfort measures alongside the medical care provider and partner.
