Hudson Breast Health Initiative

The Hudson Breast Health Initiative funded by Komen for the Cure North Jersey Affiliate provides services to uninsured and underinsured women in Hudson County who are diagnosed with breast cancer. The program provides services, case management and support to Hudson County women overwhelmed with the many facets of their treatment and recovery. The program also provides ongoing professional and community education regarding breast health, breast self-exam and early detection. NJCEED certificates for free breast exams and mammograms are available for uninsured women over age 40 or women who have a family history of breast cancer.

The program provides wigs to women undergoing chemotherapy. It also provides bras and prosthetics to women who have had a mastectomy. Temporary assistance with medication is provided while helping the women apply for long-term pharmaceutical assistance. The program also links women with other services such as financial assistance and transportation.
